"The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart." -Helen Keller

I was born and raised in Adrian, Michigan. I went to Adrian Public Schools and graduated from Adrian High School in 2006. Immediately after high school, I decided to continue my education in pursuit of my dream-- becoming a teacher.

One thing I have always hid from most people in my life was my hearing impairment. Growing up, I realized how it made me different from “normal people” to have hearing aids in my ears. I quickly learned to embrace my hearing complications and told myself that this is a huge part of who I am. I believe this is why I have and always will be very passionate about students with special needs.

Because of this passion of mine, I studied Special Education at Siena Heights University and graduated in 2012. I am currently teaching at Sand Creek Schools in a Special Education Resource Room. With the help of several colleagues, I have developed and maintained an after school tutoring program for elementary school students who are struggling to become better readers and mathematicians.

After a long day of working with students, I love coming home and playing with my two Rottweiler dogs. I come from a small family with my loving parents and one sibling (my brother, who is also a teacher). I recently married into a big family. Now, I have 3 amazing step daughters and a wonderful husband. We are both very family oriented and try to spend time with our families as much as possible.

Some of my hobbies include: reading, running, and playing board games with my family. In the summer time when we’re not working or watching sporting events, we like to spend our free time on the lake.
